The Dash

The Dash
Linda Ellis
.
I read of a man who stood to speak
at the funeral of a friend.
He referred to the dates on her tombstone
from the beginning...to the end.
.
He noted that first came the date of her birth
and spoke of the following date with tears,
but he said what mattered most of all
was the dash between those years.
.
For that dash represents all the time
that she spent alive on earth...
and now only those who loved her
know what that little line is worth.
.
For it matters not, how much we own;
the cars....the house...the cash.
What matters is how we live and love
and how we spend our dash.
.
So think about this long and hard...
are there things you'd like to change?
For you never know how much time is left
that can still be rearranged.
.
If we could just slow down enough
to consider what's true and real,
and always try to understand
the way other people feel.
.
And be less quick to anger,
and show appreciation more
and love the people in our lives
like we've never loved before.
.
If we treat each other with respect,
and more often wear a smile...
remembering that this special dash
might only last a little while.
.
So, when your eulogy is being read
with your life's actions to rehash...
would you be proud of the things they
say about how you spend your dash?
.
.

In church today the topic in RS was on death... I found this poem after church today and it all just kind of went together. I loved it and wanted to share it with all of you! I don't mean for this to be a depressing post, just a little reminder to live our lives to the fullest and remember what matters most! I love you all and hope y'all have a wonderful week!

Heaven On Earth...

Have you ever tried this bubble bath? It is simply amazing, can't get enough of it! And the best part is it's pretty cheap... so give it a try! The lotion is awesome too, I love the smell!

Also... I know I'm horrible about posting pictures of actual people, including me. So here is a pretty recent picture of my roommates and I. You gotta love the whole college roommate experience!

Oh and one more thing... the Nordstrom starts in 7 hours and I have been sitting here for the last hour debating if I am going to go fight with all the desperate housewife looking women at 7 AM or wait for the crowd to die down a little. I guess we will just have to see! Last year I went on opening day in Chicago and it was INSANE!... I seriously got beat up fighting for clothes... hopefully things won't be as bad this year!

Did you know...

Did you know that your lunch meat could be causing your headaches... I've told many of my friends this and they all think it's a load of crap. So I did my research and just as I thought, I was right! Here's what I found....

Food additives -- Food preservatives (or additives) contained in certain foods can trigger headaches. Nitrates and nitrites are additives in:

Hot dogs
Ham
Sausage
Bacon
Lunch meats and deli-style meats
Pepperoni
Other cured or processed meats
Some heart medicines

These substances dilate blood vessels, causing headaches in some people.

So now you know... hope you feel a little more enlighten by this post!

It's About Time!...

My parents finally sold their house in Washington and will moving down here August 15th! I'm so happy they will only be a 25 min drive away BUT I am going to miss Seattle SOOO much! I have lots to look forward to... Sunday dinners with the fam, spending lots of time with my cute nieces, finally having a place to escape from Provo every once in a while!
Also, I just got back from trying out this new yogurt place with my sister, it's called Yoasis. Good thing we tried a sample before we spent money on that nasty stuff. The lady told Ash most people don't like it their first time... or the next or even the next haha! So we went with the fatty Hogi Yogi ice cream instead! And just as a reminding to you all.. the Nordstrom sell starts in ONE week. I got my Nordstrom Sale Catalog in the mail yesterday, not too impressed... BUT I went and pay a visit to Nordy's today and chatted with some of the sales associates and they informed me there is gonna be lots of good stuff!
ONE LAST THING... I fly home to Washington on the 23rd to say my final good-byes :( so make sure, all you Washington readers, I get to see you!
Oh and just one more little thing...
MY soccer team made the paper! I'm working on getting the article online so you can all read it! It's a pretty big deal, considering the fact they didn't even get my last name right... urr someone is gonna die, JUST KIDDING! Any who, just had to share my 5 mins of fame!

IT'S COMING!!!

Only 10 more days till the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale... just wanted to remind you all!

I love Target...

Can I just tell you how much I LOVE target. I spend many hours there just wondering and dreaming of everything I will decorate my house with one day! But they other night Court and I ran to target before our movie started and I fell in love with these wedges and I just had to have them of course! But they had every other size except mine, ahh! So I took the cute little shoe up to customer service and asked if they would check to see if any other store had them! It must of been my lucky day because they had two pairs in my size at the American Fork location. But when I gave them a call today they said that they were gone :( what are the chances. So I jumped online just to see if they had them by chance, and they did! I am soon to be the proud owner of these cute little babies... and only 16 dollars, what a bargin!

A Quick Laugh Before Bed...

Those of you who live in the Provo area will most likely find this story a little more funny than those of you who don't.

So where I live every condo has there own assigned parking spots that are clearly marked with a number and there are many signs around that state "do not park in mark parking spots." Often people like to ignore the signs and park in your spots anyways. Hopefully after some people have heard my story they will have learned their lesson! So now to the story...

A couple of Saturdays ago my roommate Kim and I were sitting home on a Saturday night (surprise, surprise) when we got a knock on the door. It was the girl who lived below us asking is we knew the owner of the car who parked in her spot. We had no clue, but being the nice girl I am I decided to help her investigate. After knocking on a few doors and no body knowing who the car belonged to, we decided to give good ol' University Towing a call. Since it was a Saturday night in P-Town they were very busy and told us basically there was nothing they could do for us right then. So being the problem solver I am I told Brie (the girl who lives below me) to go get her car and park it right behind the car parked in her spot and leave a nice 'hate' note saying that if they wanted her to move her car they would have to come to her condo. So Brie went back to her place and I went back to mine thinking the problem was pretty much solved and I could now go to bed. I got all ready for bed and right before I got into bed I looked out the window to see how the situation was going. Much to my surprise the "owner" of the car had returned to see what we had done! But instead of him just simply knocking on Brie's door and having her move her car he decided to take things into his own hands. I ran and got Kim and we watched out the window patiently awaiting his next move. HE got into his car and started it, what was he going to do next? He was two options, 1-back into Brie's car and cause an even bigger problem or 2- try to attempt the impossible and jump the hill in front of him. Well Mr. Smarty Pants decided to choose options number Dos. When I had saw what he decided to do I grabbed Kim and ran down stairs to inform Brie. We watched out the window while the driver of a "FORD TAURUS" tried to climb a hill much bigger than his little junker could handle. Well to his surprise he got STUCK (who would of thought) We watched and watched as he try to get himself out of this situation. NO LUCK... poor guy. So we decided to go give him a hand, and by this time we had gathered quit the crowd, this is Provo after all and not much goes on around here! So to cut this very long story short, he ended up having to call the tow company to come get him unstuck which cost him a lovely 60 dollars. The best part of the story is Brie had made out with the driver before ( hmm awkward ) and it wasn't even his car, he was moving it for his friend. And till this day his friend still doesn't know a thing about what happened hahaha! And don't you even worry, I sure did take pictures, which I'm sure made the guy feel even better about the whole situation!
Enjoy...
